Billu is a Bollywood movie released in 2009 and directed by Priyadarshan. It stars Irrfan Khan, Om Puri and Lara Dutta. The story revolves around Rajendra Singh Rathore (played by Irrfan Khan) an honest cop who is transferred from Amritsar to Junagadh or "Junoon". The plot of the film takes its inspiration from the popular television serial CID written by Anand Kashyap and his team. Billu Movie Review: Rajendra's new junoon city was rife with corruption and crime on all levels, but he transforms it into a peaceful and prosperous city. He manages to drive out the don, Ratan Singh (Naseeruddin Shah), an ex-chief minister, who will stop at nothing to get his empire back. Billu is the only person who stands in his way. Rajendra's mother is killed by local goons for supporting her son and he vows to take revenge on them. He befriends a local singer named Sunita (Lara Dutta), who falls in love with him. She is also threatened by the goons, but Rajendra intervenes and saves her. He gets her a job, and she becomes the famous singer "Sunny". Rajendra gets married to Sunita after being stuck in traffic caused by a goon's funeral procession, which he protests. He realises that he must have his family with him. After getting transferred out of Junoon city, Rajendra has to leave Sunita behind as she is unable to leave the city. But the couple hopes to be together again soon enough.Billu was poorly received by critics. "Rediff.com" wrote, "The story is predictable and the plot is confusing. The climax at the end of the film is very surprising." Om Puri said that he had no problem with the climax of the film, which was different from most Hindi films.
